“Borderlands is very much a Hellgate: London made right. Not that it's perfect (far from it, in truth), but in a way that makes this game more than just a hype. Basically, it's the same mix of 1st perston shooter and dungeon crawler with RPG elements and cel-shaded graphics. All the levels are pre-generated though, but contain some random elements in looting spots and enemy variety.
Unfortunately, all the gameplay is basically consists in going from point A to point B to kill some monsters / mini-boss and possibly collect some item(s), then return back to point A. Rare boss fights is nothing special, as in sense of unique strategy / combat tactics. Yes, they wear stuff with unique properties, that render some strengths and weaknesses on them, but that's a minor variation.
All in all, I found this game pretty boring after a few hours of gaming. It's nice to sit to play it for an hour once in a while, but it have a little to offer when it comes to keeping my attention and interest for long.”
